There are 4 distinct seasons. The climate in Japan can widely vary depending on places because the country lays long from north to south.
They are Winter (December to February), Spring (March to May), Summer (June to August), and Autumn (September to November).
The average summer temperature in Japan is 77.4F (25.2C) and average winter temperature is 41.2F (5.1C). The highest temperature is 105.6F (40.9C) which is recorded on 16th August 2007.
Rainy season and typhoon.
Rainy season normally begins in early May in Okinawa and rain front gradually movies up to north until it reaches Hokkaido. The rainy season lasts around 6 weeks.
Typhoon season begins sometime in late summer or early autumn. Most of them are harmless but some bring heavy rain and strong wind.
